My blog today is
about checks and bank reconciliation. I’ll talk about bank reconciliation first. Bank Reconciliation is an analysis
and adjustment of differences between the cash balance shown on a bank
statement, and the amount shown in the account holder’s records. This matching process involves making allowances for checks issued
but not yet presented, and for checks deposited but not yet cleared or
credited. And, if discrepancies persist,
finding the cause and bringing the records into agreement.
Here is
a process of bank reconciliation:

Here is an image of the format of bank reconciliation
Why do
you think bank reconciliation is important? It is important because it helps
you to track down your balance in the bank.
The
differences in the balances may be due to:
1.
Outstanding
checks. Issued by the depositor but have not yet
presented to the bank for payment.
2
.
Deposit
in transit. Deposits made by late to be included in the
monthly bank statement.
3
.
Service
charges.
4.
Errors
in the check stub entries
5
.
Cancelled
checks. Have been paid by the bank.
Now we
are done with bank reconciliation let’s go to checks. It is easier to carry checks because it is
safer than carrying cash. So a check is a payment of money from a bank account.
Most of the people who use checks are the one with business and companies
because paying in checks is safer than paying in cash, you can make payments without the
need to carry large amounts of money. You can track your records in the bank by
using checkbook.
Example
of a check:
Just remember when using checks make sure that you know the person you are paying.
